Respect for integrity of women with disabilities

Little People of Kosovo is a network of national organizations or assemblies of persons with disabilities and minorities, established to promote new Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, promotion and protection of minorities rights and development.

NGO Little People of Kosova has been accredited to participate in the work of the Ad Hoc Committee of the UN's General Assembly on a drafting the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

International Women’s Day, 8th of March 2007



The Performance as a main event of the campaign “International Woman’s Day”

This event gathered youth, persons with disabilities, representatives of local and international institutions, in order to promote jointly the human rights, equality and non – discrimination with a special emphasis on the respect for human diversity by gender, race, mental or physical disabilities, age, ethnic origin, nationality or any other status.

Campaign into focus to human rights and dignity of women and girls with disability

We started to promote goals of a Comprehensive and Integral International Convention on Protection and Promotion of the Rights and Dignity of Persons with Disabilities in Kosova anent International Women's Day 8th March. We organized event of the campaign on the 6th March in Pristina - Kosova and Miss. Hiljmnijeta Apuk wrote brochure named "Respect for Differences" and poster was advertised by all kind of media. Persons with disability of Kosova have had good opportunity to promote goals of the Convention.
We are thankful to speakers of the Main Celebration and they supported promotion of human rights and dignity of persons with disability.

Campaign into focus toward women and girls with disability

“A STEP TOGETHER TOWARDS THE 21ST CENTURY

SENSITIVE PUBLIC OPINION:
- Male role in achievement of the gender equality, focused into woman and girls with disability
- Women address critical issues of poverty, inadequate health care, lack of education, violence and abuse.
- Obstacles and challenges for complete communion involvement of females and males with disability;
- Male resistance linked with gender equality
- Reasons for alteration through male perspective
- Gender and psycho-physical limitations the base of violence
- Models of education for boys and adolescents

Byway the Campaign published brochure named "Male Role in Achievement of Gender Equality". Media and Newspaper Kosovo wide covered it and about two million Kosovars recognized the message.

WOMEN IN 21ST CENTURY.(DIS)ABILITY WOMEN TOGETHER

Goals of the campaign:

SENSITIVE PUBLIC OPINION:
- Raising awareness for status of women with disabilities in Kosovo society.
- Building a better network of women's NGOs, which is going to be very helpful in the future projects of LPK, to avoid duplication and better synchronizing actions in the field; proposal of umbrella organization for all women's NGOs in Kosovo
- Prevail over barriers in communications between all groups.
- Launch a suggestion of women's umbrella organization as a way towards better cooperation in the future.
